| | Just the other day, I saw a video that is a little upsetting and possibly disturbing and yet the message that the video tried to bring across sunk deeply into me. How often have we heard, "children don't do things we ask them to do, they do things seeing what we do?" And yet we have seen how some parents behaving badly and rude to others in front of their children. How would such actions and behaviors impacted their children? Probably through this short video, we have a chance to see from a third person's view what could possibly be the consequences.
I have a 4 years old (going to 5) niece and two 3 years old twin nephews. I had seen how my niece copying her childcare teacher in talking to her two brother at home. And I had seen how the two boys always 'driving' around the house in their imaginary vehicle. It was always fun to see them imitating something that we did as long as those things that they imitated were socially accept. But what if they start to pick up some bad habits ... that is something which I do not desire. If that is the case, how then must I behave? Shall I behave differently when I am with them? Or shall I be consistent and behave the same way as I will have been if I am with them? I find the latter more convincing.
